Society without Violence NGO has organized a training on “Gender Equality and Domestic Violence” for 23 Social Sciences teachers of Lori region which took place on 7-8th of May in Dilijan. In comparison with other regions, the participants were quite open minded and were concerned with domestic violence as well as gender inequality issues. The participants tend to discuss the topic in the frame of national traditions considering women rights as Christian values. One of the teachers even mentioned that there was a time where beating a woman was considered as a sin, but now Armenians are being set apart from their national Christian values. Moreover, the model of patriotic family is characteristic for Caucasian mentality and does not correspond to the Armenian family model.
